The Simpsons Season 03 Ep 15: Homer Alone

"Bart the Lover"The Simpsons List of episodes"Homer Alone" is the fifteenth episode of the third season of the American animated television series The Simpsons, and the fiftieth episode overall. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on February 6, 1992. In the episode, stress from household chores and her family's demands causes Marge to suffer a nervous breakdown, so she vacations alone at a spa. She leaves Bart and Lisa with Patty and Selma; Maggie stays at home with Homer but leaves home looking for her mother, causing Homer to frantically search for her. The writers then re-wrote much of the episode, switching the institute to a spa. They also added a video appearance from the fictional actor Troy McClure, voiced by Phil Hartman.

From handmade pieces to vintage treasures ready to be loved again, Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. It’s also home to a whole host of one-of-a-kind items made with love and extraordinary care. While many of the items on Etsy are handmade, you’ll also find craft supplies, digital items, and more. This is the fifteenth episode of the third season of the Simpsons and once again, we have another great episode on our hands. There are many highlights including the scenes where Bart and Lisa had to eat tongue sandwiches and where there was a shady confrontation between Mayor Quimby and Chief Wiggum.

Ep 12: I Married Marge

The band recorded a slightly different tempo of their one-hit wonder specifically for this episode. There were some scenes in the trailers for this episode which didn't get to air. After Homer staples Maggie's diaper shut, he picks her up, and the changing board comes with her. This is the third time a case of an ironic musical hold has caused a Simpsons character to burst into tears. The first was in Stark Raving Dad when Marge dialed Calmwood Mental Institution and was placed on hold while Crazy by Patsy Cline played. The second time was in Saturdays of Thunder when Homer dialed the National Fatherhood Institute and Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin played.

Homer then duct-tapes Maggie to her car seat, securing her tightly to avoid her escaping from him. He then makes his way over to Patty and Selma, to pick up Bart and Lisa. Overjoyed with his presence, they cling onto his feet, forcing Homer to kick them into the backseat. Before leaving town, Marge puts Bart and Lisa into the care of Patty and Selma, but Maggie clings to the front door when she is about to be deposited to her aunts, leaving Maggie in Homer's care.

Simpsons Home Alone

This is the first episode since Season 2 in which Chief Wiggum has blue hair. This is the first episode that shows Patty and Selma's fondness for MacGyver , and Selma says "Richard Dean Anderson will be in my dreams tonight." ―Marge Simpson"Homer Alone" is the fifteenth episode of Season 3. Overall, this is a great episode and my favorite part is Homer trying to find Maggie before Marge returns home. Of course, Bart and Lisa tortuous stay at Marge's sisters is also great to watch.

The episode's title references the film Home Alone, which starred David Stern's brother Daniel. She leaves Bart and Lisa with Patty and Selma; Maggie stays at home with Homer. Marge enjoys her much-needed rest while the rest of the family find it hard to adapt to life without her.

Ep 3: When Flanders Failed

Since the town's women sympathize with Marge's plight, Mayor Quimby orders her release over Chief Wiggum's objections. While at Rancho Relaxo, Marge listens to a radio station which identifies itself as "WKOMA". "WKOMA" would be east of the Mississippi and isn't really a valid call sign, since it's five letters .

The scene at the train station where Marge leaves for Rancho Relaxo includes a brief cameo appearance of a character modeled after Simpsons director Jim Reardon. Reardon dislikes flying, and took trains whenever possible, so the animators always tried to include him in scenes at a train station. Susie Dietter served as assistant director for the episode and animated several of the scenes for the subplot with Bart, Lisa, Patty and Selma. In a scene where Homer sings a song to Maggie, he was designed to look dishevelled because the writers had wanted him to look drunk, although no attention was called to it.

The first was Some Enchanted Evening when she roars at the kids. The second Nick's bowling shop that Marge goes to has a picture of Jacques from the episode Life on the Fast Lane. In its original airing on February 6, 1992, on Fox during February sweeps, the episode acquired a 14.2 Nielsen rating and was viewed in approximately 13.08 million homes. It finished 25th in the ratings for the week of February 3–9, 1992, up from the season's average rank of 37th. This is the first episode since season 2 that Chief Wiggum has blue hair. Maggie is then found on the edge of the top of an ice-cream shop by the police.

While Marge is enjoying her vacation, the rest of the Simpsons are suffering without her. Bart has to sleep with Patty, who snores, as Lisa has to sleep with Selma. Homer finds it troublesome feeding Maggie, and changes Maggie's diaper by closing it with a staple gun. As for entertainment, Homer tries to make Maggie laugh through a puppet show, only to scare Maggie. Santa's Little Helper attacks both the puppets and Homer, to which Maggie applauds and laughs. When Chief Wiggum calls Homer in to talk to Marge, he manages to calm her down enough to tell her that he's sorry for taking advantage of her and that he loves her.

Ep 2: Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington

Homer also mentions about not being a pleasant company when he and Marge go on vacation together. Marge convinces Homer that she needs to go to Rancho Relaxo alone for rest and relaxation. David M. Stern's brother Daniel Stern had starred in the movie as Marv Merchants, one of the main antagonists. In addition, Homer mimics the poster when he notices that Maggie is missing. The quiet desperation of Marge Simpson has been a steady drumbeat coursing through the first few seasons of The Simpsons.

Chief Wiggum thinks she is trying to commit suicide, but she is actually sleeping next to the statue of an ice-cream cone that looks like Marge's head. Not knowing the police have found Maggie, Homer prepares to apologize to Marge. He first talks to himself, practicing explanations for Maggie's disappearance, but then Chief Wiggum arrives and returns Maggie to Homer.

The background in the sequence references the Hanna–Barbera tradition of using backgrounds over and over and making it look like there is an "endless living room". The scene where Marge is booked in prison references the Coen brothers film Raising Arizona. He had noticed that most of the writers were pitching stories about Bart and Homer, and he thought a "deeper vein of comedy" could be reached by having Marge suffer from a nervous breakdown. Executive producer James L. Brooks immediately approved the idea. Originally, Marge's trip was to a distressed mother's institute so they could show "what made Marge tick".

This episode was written by David M. Stern, whose brother Daniel starred as Marv the bandit in the first two Home Alone movies. The opening scene of the episode, where Homer is chasing Bart, is a parody of the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote chase scenes from the Looney Tunes cartoons directed by Chuck Jones. When Marge leaves for her vacation there is a man on the train platform checking his watch. The beginning of the episode where Homer chases Bart is a reference to the Warner Bros./Chuck Jones Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoons. The scene freezes, during which Bart and Homer's scientific names are given as Brat'us Don'thaveacow'us and Homo Neanderthal'us respectively.
